Brooks Koepka Looked Like He Might Murder Patrick Cantlay In Broad Daylight While Waiting On Teeboxes All Day

Laugh out loud moment today on the 16th. Patrick Cantlay stalked a 10 footer for what felt like a week, looking his putt from every angle and standing over it for a good long while before finally hitting it (and leaving it short). Meanwhile, Rahm and Koepka stood back on the tee box waiting and watching, which was something they did a lot of today.

I had the main broadcast on my main TV, and had the ESPN+ feed of 15 and 16 on my other TV (if you don't have a multiple TV setup at this point, it's time to grow up). The ESPN+ feed kept the shot on Koepka and Rahm damn near the entire time, and Brooks didn't move an inch. Absolute death stare from 175 yards back, which was probably too close for Cantlay's safety if we're being honest. Hilarious to watch him brood. You could feel the anger from everything happening around him just seeping out of his pores. Even Cantlay's partner in Viktor Hovland looked like he had had enough.

The final tee time was at 2:33 PM ET. The final putt dropped at 7:21, meaning the round took 4 hours and 48 minutes. That is just too damn long. Cantlay has long been regarded as a guy who plays at a turtle's pace, and many were pointing out amateur Sam Bennett's slow play as well. Brooks had the opportunity to go in on Cantlay, and kept it short and sweet.... but made his point.

I don't know that it was purposeful on Cantlay's part to try to psyche out Koepka, but if it was... brilliant. With that said, you gotta play better if you're gonna play that slow. There's no excuse for rounds of golf to go over 4 hours... especially with twosomes. Just brutal stuff. Nobody ever gets penalized and rarely do they even get put on the clock, but it's probably time to enforce that a little bit more... even on golf's biggest stage.
