The World Is Finally Back To Normal Now That Duke Lacrosse Is A Wagon Again
From 2007-2021, the Duke lacrosse team had played in every NCAA Tournament. Obviously there was no tournament in the 2020 season because of that whole global pandemic thing, but 14 straight tournament appearances for the Blue Devils. The last time they didn't make the tournament was 2006, and I think we all remember what happened that season.
Then last year happened. Duke went 11-6 with losses to Jacksonville, Penn, Loyola, Syracuse, and Notre Dame twice. Combine those losses with the fact that the selection committee got obsessed with the Ivy League last year, and that left Duke on the outside looking in for the NCAA Tournament. The first time they missed the tournament in a season they actually completed since 2003.
It was a shock to the system. Like seeing your dad cry for the first time. We didn't know how to react to Duke not making the tournament. We didn't know which way was up or which way was down. One of the fundamental truths to our society had suddenly been broken. But luckily we don't have to worry about that anymore because 2023 is here and Duke is back to being an absolute wagon.
10-1 on the season and currently the #1 ranked team in the nation. It was a scary 10 or so months without Duke lacrosse being filthy, but nature is finally healing and we're back to normal.
So to celebrate the occasion, we had 2x National Champion and former Duke midfielder Deemer Class on this week's episode of The Crease Dive to talk about what makes this team so nasty. Especially Brennan O'Neill.
