Today's Version Of Batshit Crazy Soccer Fans: Dutch Match Delayed Because A Feyenoord Fan Cut Open An Ajax Player's Head With A Lighter

Translated - Scandalous: the match between Feyenoord and Ajax was stopped after Davy Klaassen was hit by a lighter from the audience.

So yesterday was this Ajax/Feyenoord match in the KNVB Cup. Massive rivalry, which means, batshit crazy fans. Actually we don't even need a rivalry for that. It just adds to fans being batshit crazy. The match was delayed after the first minute because Feyenoord fans had too much smoke in the stadium:

I'm shocked that like SEC Football hasn't taken this sort of tradition to stadiums. Just firing off flares and having de facto smoke effects. I know it's not possible because of security, but imagine some of those stadiums with this going on. Anyways, that's nothing compared to what happened later.

[Source] - Klaassen celebrated by the corner flag with a knee slide before being engulfed by his team-mates. But, in worrying scenes, an object came flying from the stands and struck the former Everton forward on the back of the head.

The object caused a deep cut on Klaassen’s head which immediately began to seep out blood. The referee soon took the players off the pitch and down the tunnel due to safety fears

After a 28-minute break, in which both sides discussed whether they could resume play, the Feyenoord assistant manager took the unusual step of addressing the fans directly. Given a microphone, John de Wolf pointed to the section of the crowd where the object had been thrown from and gave a warning.

Yeah, that'll do it. I mean look at that gash in the video. Klaassen was bleeding like a Jon Moxley wrestling match. Look, if I get hit with a lighter in the head or start bleeding like that I'm sitting out the rest of the match. Ajax ended up winning 2-1. But I'm still sitting out. You go out there and deal with shit getting thrown at you, I'm going to get a couple bandaids on the head and call it a day.

Tough to be a bald guy in this situation too. Nothing worse than getting a cut on the head while shaving or, in this scenario, a thrown lighter. You can't hide it. You can only wear a hat in certain situations. Everyone and I mean everyone notices a cut on a bald head.

Apparently the guy who threw the lighter is 32-years old. That's too old to throw lighters man, even in European soccer. You have to either be like 24 or 76. Nothing in the middle. You can get away with it being a crazy old person. Naturally he got arrested. Not sure if that's shocking or not in the European soccer world, but it happened.
