More People Watched FAU/SDSU In A Final Four Than Nova/Kansas, So Now Everyone Can Stop Complaining About NCAA Tournament Upsets

Alright, this is the last blog on this because this is the day after the national title game. I saw a lot of complaining about upsets happening in the NCAA Tournament and how ratings will be killed. Well, look at this. Miami/UConn down to Duke/UNC (no kidding) but SDSU/FAU up over Kansas/Nova. Not bad for a game that people kept claiming no one cared about.

I typically don't give a shit about TV ratings. You're going to watch what you want to watch. How many people watch a Final Four or title game means nothing to me. It has no impact on my life whatsoever. Same thing happened last year with St. Peters

Do I typically want the best teams in the Final Four? Of course. It tends to lead to 'better' games plus in a win-or-go home scenario, I'd prefer better teams to advance. But upsets are what makes the NCAA Tournament great. I said it an earlier blog. It's not like last night was the first blowout or bad game in for the title. Nova/Michigan, Baylor/Gonzaga, UNC/Michigan State, Florida/UCLA, UConn/Georgia Tech, UConn/Butler were all blowouts or bad games. Sometimes it just happens. It's one game. You can have a shitty shooting night. You can have a bad matchup.

It's the old cliche that games aren't on paper. If that was the case UConn - who everyone agrees looked like the best team this year - wouldn't have won the title. They weren't the No. 1 team on KenPom or betting favorite going into the Tournament. The NCAA Tournament is the best because of the unpredictability. Plus, be honest, how many times do we get a FAU/SDSU Final Four game? One other time comes to mind in 2011 with Butler/VCU.

We're one year removed from 4 of the biggest brands in the Final Four. This year we had 3 first timers and UConn. Next year will probably be different than those two. Upsets happen, stop complaining about them every year.
