The New York Yankees Starting Shortstop Hates Me

If you are a Yankees fan you have probably heard of the name Anthony Volpe for a very long time now. The hope is that he becomes our next Derek Jeter. Drafted out of high school he's a Jersey kid who grew up idolizing Derek Jeter. It's a feel good story for the ages and makes you believe the stars have aligned for this guy to be the future of the organization. This is supposed to be a happy time for me as a Yankee fan, but I don't know where I stand.

About two years ago Hubbs said he heard from one of Volpe's friends that he didn't like me. I paid no attention to it because he wasn't close to making the Major Leagues at the time. Weird he would think that without knowing me or ever meeting me. Then last year Jersey Jerry reveals he is friends with Volpe. Jerry came back and was just like hey Volpe doesn't like you. Again I only said positive things about this guy because I am a Yankees fan so I don't know what the problem was. I thought he must be team **** but this was well before that. So now I am in a pickle because when people don't like me I get upset and hope they suck. But if he sucks that means the Yankees suck and I'm sad so its a double loser. 

I think I've made the decision that I will root for him, but after one error I will come for his head until he reveals to me why he doesn't like me. If you told me when I was 10 that a Yankees player knew my name I would have had a heart attack. Fast forward 18 years the starting shortstop and heir to Jeter's throne hates me because of my content. 

He probably is a Seaside guy and hates that I go to Belmar. You know what? Oswald Peraza is an unbelievable shortstop who got called up in September in a tough spot and played great but everyone is sucking off Volpe. Now Oswald is sad in Triple A despite being plenty good to be an everyday major leaguer. We need justice for Peraza. I would really, really hate to see Volpe make an error in his first game. There is no pressure though. Not like Derek Jeter himself tweeted at him congratulating him on winning the job. 

This is a chance for you to come on Short Porch and tell me why you hate me because it'll be funny if he just hates me for my takes. But let's not forget I have way better college stats than Volpe and he might be mad that I know ball. So for now it would really suck if he went 0-4 in the Bronx on his first day, my luck he will hit a homerun in his first at bat but Peraza should be up here and not this guy. 

Editor's note: Volpe hating Mush and shutting him out from the jump might actually mean he becomes the next Jeter. I've never felt better about his chances.
