The Markquis Nowell Alley-Oop Play Somehow Got Cooler After All These Ridiculous Stories Came Out About What Actually Happened

We all saw the play. We all know the play. It was awesome. I don't know how else to describe it besides that. It looked like they ran Belmont's panic play only cooler. Here's what Belmont made famous:

Basically pretend like it's a broken play, you're stuck only to set up the backdoor cut. It's beautiful. I love when teams do shit like this. It appeared that Nowell and Tang did the same thing to set up the alley-oop to Johnson. Except now we've reached an insane level of storytelling.

Story 1 being it was a deigned play where they tried to act like Tang and Nowell were arguing.

Story 2:

Come on. I love Nowell but this is a lie. He's not telling Isiah Thomas and his friend (Charlie Bell, MSU legend) to watch this. He's clearly talking to Tang! I mean I'm sure he said it at some point, but no shot he said it right before throwing the pass. This would be the only cooler thing than the fake arguing play. If you set it up by somehow yelling over Tang to Thomas and Bell, yeah, you can do whatever the fuck you want.

Story 3:

Okay, this is reasonable. I mean Nowell was in the zone. He was Billy Hoyle in the zone out there. He wanted to cook, Tang had something else in mind. Except, this might be proven false too:

But you know what? It doesn't matter. Plays like this should have 3 different stories to go with it. I choose to believe they set up the lob while Tang and Nowell was somewhat arguing about what play to run. A set play to a degree but not full on insanity.

This is what I love about sports though. A play happens and it gets elevated because there are 100 stories out there about what happened. It could be from fans who claim they were in the stadium, it could be from the opposing team or who made it happen. I love how dumb it is. Shit, remember, Kansas State ran a similar play against Kansas:

Just be ready because the Nowell to Johnson alley-oop will be all over One Shining Moment. It will be shown every year during the Tournament, especially if Kansas State makes the Final Four. I'm a big fan of cool shit and this defines that.
