Virginia And Notre Dame Are About To Play The Biggest Game Of March

Virginia opened up the season at #1 in the nation. But after a wild overtime loss to Maryland that included 3 incredible saves from Terps freshman goalie Brian Ruppel, Virginia slides down to #3 which opened up the door for a new top dawg in the country.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, led by the Kavanagh brothers. These two demons have been terrorizing the shit out of every defender thrown their way this season.

Notre Dame is playing a brand of pissed off lacrosse that we've never seen before. The selection committee kept them out of the NCAA Tournament last year and it's abundantly clear they're not going to let anybody forget about it. They beat Maryland in overtime at the beginning of the month. They put an absolute smackdown on Ohio State. They almost doubled up Georgetown. This team is crushing everybody, and making sure that anyone involved with keeping them out of the tournament last year understands how hard they fucked up.

And now they'll get a Virginia team who is coming off their first loss of the season. A Virginia team that hasn't lost to anyone besides Maryland in close to a full calendar year. Notre Dame has been playing pissed off all season, but Virginia is going to be equally pissed off this week.

Notre Dame and Maryland already played the game of the season on March 4th. Virginia and Maryland already played the game of the season on March 18th. Now we get a chance to see #1 Notre Dame vs #3 Virginia on Saturday. 12pm at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend. Two of the top 3 teams in the country. Kavanagh vs Shellenberger. Both of them playing with a little extra juice. Get the popcorn ready.

We talk about that game and everything else you need to know heading into another great weekend of college lacrosse on this week's episode of The Crease Dive. So fire up the pod and get ready for the biggest game of March.
