Nothing Screams Fun Vacation Like Having Your Bungee Cord Snapping While Falling 10 Stories Into The Water

I would like it known before watching the clip that this guy survived and is somehow perfectly fine. Can't be posting dead guys on the blog in 2023.

Absolutely fucking not.

NY Post

A 39-year-old man barely escaped death after his line snapped during a 10-story jump. Video of the terrifying moment went viral after the victim decided to share his harrowing experience.

Mike, who revealed only a first name in the interest of privacy, decided to go bungee jumping while on vacation in Pattaya, Thailand, with a friend earlier this year.

I'm admittedly not a trusting person. It's very, very difficult to get me to believe in you on a whim. That goes for virtually anything. "Hey try this food that has things in it you don't like, I bet you'll love it!" "Take this way to the place we're going that you've never done before, it's faster." "Try texting her this way, it'll work better!" I'd much rather fail or succeed my own way than put my faith in a stranger.

Now bring bungee jumping 100 feet off a crane into the mix. It would take someone like Blake Lively waiting at the bottom for me to work up the courage to take the leap and risk my life like that, on vacation no less! Add this being in Thailand? I'd rather go to jail than trust that contraption. Welp, turns out the ol' bungee cord in Thailand did not do what it was supposed to do. The result? Some dude on vacation falling 10 stories into the water. Not exactly the excursion most are looking for when they go away.

“It was really high so I closed my eyes. I planned to open my eyes again when I bounced back up,” Mike told CNN. “I realized the cord had snapped when I opened my eyes and I was surrounded by water.”

Mike was knocked unconscious when he hit the water and was left covered in bruises from the fall.

“I landed on my left side so the injuries were more serious there,” he said. “It was as if someone just beat me up real bad.”

I have no fucking idea how this guy is alive. You can't just fall 100+ feet and live, that's not what's supposed to happen. And sure I guess the bungee cord aspect of this slowed down the fall a bit, but you hit replay a few times on that video and see how fast he slams into the water. Then factor in that while smacking into the water his feet were still tied together as he was forced to swim to safety. Get the fuck out of my face with that.

I'm glad this guy is alive obviously, but maybe next time on vacation just opt for the relaxing, drinking, exploring the sights part of the getaway as opposed to the death defying leap of faith with something that probably cost $5 to put together.
