It's March and we’re heading down the homestretch of the NHL season it’s time to check out the $EBR Western Conference power rankings. This time of year we are done wasting our time on the bottom feeders and will only look at the top 10.

  1. Colorado Avalanche - Defending Champs are finally getting healthy and playing like they did last year. A couple of minor moves adding Nieto and Johnson have them ready for a deep run. MacKinnon looks fresh and has been buzzing down the stretch as the Avs close in on the Central Division title.

  1. Vegas Golden Knights - The goaltending situation scared me all year, but I think Jonathan Quick has one more run in him. The amount of talent up front and on the back-end has Vegas as a top 2 team in the West.

  1. Los Angeles Kings - This team is fast and has the best home record in the West. The trade for Korpisalo and Gavrikov makes this team a legit contender to win the West. Kevin Fiala looks to be one of the best free-agent signings in recent history and lives rent-free in Whit's head on the golf course.

  1. Dallas Stars - Jason Robertson has been unstoppable all year and Jake Oettinger was unbeatable last year in the playoffs, so Dallas is ready for a deep run.

  1. Edmonton Oilers - I’ve been screaming for them to get Ekholm all season and they finally made the move and it's been a home run. With the season 97 is having, he'll probably win a series or two on his own like he did last year, but the goaltending situation is still a major concern for Whit and all the fans in Oil Country.

  2. Minnesota Wild - This team just keeps winning even with their top scorer Kaprizov out as players like Matt Boldy have stepped up and led the way. Fleury has found the fountain of youth hidden in the Twin Cities and is on an unreal heater.

  3. Seattle Kraken - A major surprise all year and everyone kept waiting for them to fade but they have hung on and look ready for their first playoff appearance in franchise history

  4. Winnipeg Jets - In a complete nose dive but are hanging on to the last spot in the West. If they can get turn it around before playoffs they have all the pieces you need to make an upset in the first round.

  5. Calgary Flames - An absolute mess all year, and it looks like it's time for a coaching change in Calgary. Too many big names to miss the playoffs and it's easier to change one coach than 10 players.

  1. Vancouver Canucks - Rick Tocchet has turned them into one of the best teams in the league since the coaching change. Fans are upset they will once again be in no man's land as far as the playoffs and the draft lottery, but the foundation for next season has been laid.
