CBB IN 60: History In Columbus, Some Late Game-Winners, And Round 1 Is Complete
Today’s CBB in 60 recap and today’s outfit of the day are sponsored by Express!
History in COLUMBUS! For just the 2nd time in March Madness history, a 16 seed takes down a 1 seed. Fairleigh Dickinson, who didn’t even win its conference tournament, who had to play in the First Four… stunned top seed Purdue to flip millions of brackets upside down. The Boilermakers are the first team in history to lose to a 13-seed or worse in 3 straight seasons. Insanity!
Another team who had to play in Dayton advances to the Round of 32, that’s Pittsburgh. And in terms of seed difference, only one other “upset,” which was FAU over Memphis in an 8-9 thriller. Shoutout Boca Raton, shoutout South Florida.
In the day session, Xavier survives Kennesaw State, while Michigan State, Saint Mary’s, Creighton Baylor, and Marquette all look good.
Also, after trailing at half, UConn beat Iona, and there are reports that Rick Pitino to St. Johns it just about a done deal. We shall see.
Onto the evening, Kentucky wins a tournament game after getting embarrassed last year, they’ll take on Kansas State. Miami holds on to beat Drake, and another year with no 12’s beating 5’s… hmmm.
TCU wins on the final shot over ASU, Gonzaga cruises late over Grand Canyon, and Indiana advances in the final game of the night.
