Don't Look Now But The Philadelphia Flyers Finally Learned How To Suck Aggressively Hard As The Race For Connor Bedard Heats Up

There's less than a month left in the 2023 NHL regular season. There are plenty of teams right now who are all sprinting to cross the finish line right now. There's about a 5-team race for the final 2 wild card spots in the Eastern Conference, and a 4-team race for the 2 wild card spots in the West. This is the final push for teams to end the season the way they want to close it out.

The Philadelphia Flyers are doing exactly just that. Since the NHL trade deadline, the Flyers are 1-4. They've completely separated themselves from the middle of the pack and are now clearly in a race to the bottom of the league standings.

I don't know why it's taken so long. I don't understand what the hold up was on everything. They should have been losing 65-75% of their games from the start. They should have fired Chuck Fletcher months ago. They should already have Connor Bedard looking at apartments in Philadelphia. But just because they didn't get the tank started from the get go doesn't mean that they don't have the ability to finish strong now and tank harder than any team has ever tanked before to close out the season.

Look at them go! 5th best odds in the draft lottery if the season ended today. Still plenty of time of the Anaheim Ducks to rack up a few wins and jump them in the standings. And the best part of it all is that the Flyers close out their season with games against the Blue Jackets and Chicago. I mean I don't see it ever getting to the point where the Flyers are able to drop below Columbus for that 32nd spot in the standings. But there's a realistic chance those final games of the regular season could determine who gets Bedard. If the Flyers lose both of those games and end up somewhere in 30th or 31st place? You know for a fact that the NHL would benefit more from putting Bedard in a market like Philadelphia as opposed to Columbus.

15 games left in the regular season. They've already lost 16 out of their last 20. You've got a team that simply does not give a fuck. You've got a coach who hates all of the players. You have a new GM who is currently dealing with his shit head kid being a punk in college. You have an ownership group that would rather suck Gritty's dick than figure out a way to build a successful hockey roster in 2023. All the pieces of the puzzle are there. The Flyers just need to put them together and lose like 12 more games this season.

Do you believe in miracles?
