ESPN Says Vanderbilt Will Miss The NCAA Tournament Because Of Losses To SMU And Temple ... Which Are Teams It Played Last Season

Yikes.

While the above tweet mentions Joe Lunardi, if you watch the video, he's not actually the one who brings up Vanderbilt's 2021-22 losses to Temple, SMU and Loyola-Chicago — the last of which actually had a KenPom ranking of 29 last season and was pretty good, in case you needed more proof that host had no clue what he was talking about. But Lunardi absolutely should have known enough about the most talked-about bubble team of the last 48 hours to let the host know those games took place in December 2021.

And none of that is to say Vanderbilt should be in the NCAA Tournament, because it absolutely shouldn't. The losses the Commodores actually have this season to Southern Miss, Grambling State and LSU are much worse than the three that are mentioned in that ESPN clip. Any talk of Vandy getting an at-large bid was always borderline nonsense.

But if we're going to talk about its résumé, let's make sure we have the correct year pulled up.
