It Sucks After The Chaos Of The Regular Season, This Was The Most Anti-Climatic Championship Week In A Long Ass Time

This was the most anti-climatic Championship Week I can remember in a long, long time. Not saying the games were bad. But chalk just held everywhere. All the major conferences had a 1v2, 1v3 type title game. Sure, PSU is there in the Big 10 - against a 1 seed. Sure, a 4 seed Duke won the ACC - they were favored over the 1 seed. There was no bid stealing, even like UAB over FAU didn't happen.

Everything just held. On one hand it's nice because as a fan you don't have to sweat out too much. On the other hand it all sucks. We love this time of the year because of the upsets. It's something I always say, especially in the NCAA Tournament, we want chaos early and then the big time teams and good teams late. That's always the dream Tournament.

Then last night we had this:

Seriously, that tip pass off the rebound to set up the sequence is basketball porn. Obviously huge shot by Ramey to give Arizona the win (and cash us if you tailed). But it also made today's games kind of whatever. Look at the tweets and you see the only real question left with the NCAA Tournament.

Who are the 1 seeds?

To me it's a no-brainer Gonzaga (from Norlander's list) is the 3 seed. They got knocked down last night with the Texas and Arizona wins. It's also why today's games kind of suck. Every year it feels like they 'don't matter.' Because we've seen results where nothing changes despite everyone saying it will. Every team playing is firmly in or out of the Tournament (1-bid Ivy and 1-bid A-10).

Houston/Alabama/Purdue all win they join Kansas as the 1 seeds. If they lose? Purdue tips off right before the Selection Show. Do they really drop them to a 2 and move UCLA back to a 1? Or Texas? I don't see it. To me it's simple:

1 seeds: Houston, Purdue, Kansas, Alabama

2 seeds: Texas, Marquette, Arizona and UCLA

Those seem to be the lock for the top-8 seeds. You could make a case for Texas, UCLA (outside shot Marquette) at a 1 but it feels done. Yeah, part of me likes the Sunday games because it gives me something to watch. I just wish they truly felt like they meant something. We go from this high of mayhem on Thursday, Friday to bids handed out all day yesterday to ... this. Everything has been so anti-climatic, I don't see that changing today.

Give me the mayhem.
