As Is Tradition, Team USA Took Care Of Great Britain Last Night As They Kicked Off Pool Play In The World Baseball Classic

Team USA did what they had to do last night as they kicked off pool play and took out Great Britain by a score of 6-2. No real surprise there since Great Britain isn't much of a threat to TEAM USA even though they were wearing possibly the most boring uniforms ever. 

Team USA did get a little score when Trace Thompson put Great Britain ahead early with a homer off of Adam Wainwright. Not a great start and it looked like USA was sleepwalking sort of early on. Just took them a little bit to get their feet under them but when they got comfortable the game was over for GB.

Nolan Arenado had a great game and kicked it off by tying it up at 1 in the third with a double down the line. Vance Worley just didn't have the stuff to get through this deadly lineup. I'm shocked. 

Kyle Tucker was tired of being tied and absolutely laced one right back up the middle. Tough play for the defense because that ball is hit so hard and directly at you. Jumped a little too early it looks like, but tough play regardless. US grabbed the lead and didn't look back. 

It had been a while since we got to celebrate a big time Kyle Schwarber homer so he decided to go yard seconds after John Smoltz said "I bet someone hits one in the pool soon". Pretty good timing by the guy yelling "SCHWARBOMB" too. Ball was destroyed. American Hero, Kyle Schwarber. 3-run blast gave USA some breathing room. 

Game was pretty much over there. USA would go on to win 6-2 but honestly it should have been by more. Kind of a warmup for Team USA but a win in pool play is a win in pool play. Next up is Mexico tonight, much tougher competition. Player of the game has to go to Nolan Arenado though, he brought the bat and the leather of course. 

3-5 with a double and 2 runs driven in. He's fired up to be on the team and how can you blame him? All but 2 starters, Mike Trout and Jeff McNeil, had a hit for Team USA and once they got the jitters out of the way they showed the world what makes them one of the favorites to win it all. They just had monsters all over the lineup. As with every other team, the pitching is going to be what gets this team to advance. Pitching has to be top notch and after some struggles Waino was able to get it under control. Bullpen was nails and they're going to need more of that vs Mexico. 

1-0 in pool play, one more step closer towards advancing. These colors don't run, baby.
