Introducing Helen Housby - The Star Of Netball (The Sport Of The Future)

You may be wondering how I got to talking about netball. That's fair. A little behind the curtain I was searching around the Internet, trying to find a story to blog when I read an article on Helen Housby and her growth on Instagram and social media. Then I remembered she's the star of this moment:

Took me a minute to remember netball is different than volleyball. Thought maybe it was a football/soccer thing over there in England. Nope, netball is the true sport of the future. 

Do I know the rules of netball? Absolutely not. It's why it's the sport of the future. But a quick Wikipedia tells me it's 7 people on each team. Each player has a position and they can only cover a certain area of the floor. Then you have to make a basket. Yeah, it sounds madeup, but it sounds awesome. This feels like an intramural game that's played across the world. Sign me up for that. 

In fact I say we get this into the Summer Olympics. It's got a little handball feel to it and we all love handball. Plus, the more weird sports in the Olympics the better. Imagine if we had the best athletes in America play netball. We'd dominate that shit. No doubt about it. But for now it's dominated by Helen Housby.

She's been a pro for 10 years since she was 18! I don't see load management problems in netball. Maybe they are onto something here. She's got the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games. She's playing pro over in Australia right now. Star power.
