I'm Once Again Begging Those Assholes At The NCAA To Turn On Their TVs And Realize We Don't Need NCAA Tournament Expansion

I was debating what day to post this but fuck it. It's a Monday and it starts the NCAA Tournament. I've once again seen reports of possible NCAA Tournament expansion. I'm once again pissed off. I know everything changes. I know everything we grew up on is no longer the same. But the NCAA Tournament - which obviously went from 64 to 65 to 68 in our lifetime - is the perfect, one consistent thing.

It's 4 brackets with 16 (fuck the First Four).

We eat bar food every Thursday-Sunday.

I get irrationally angry and upset when my team loses.

Rinse, repeat, come back next year.

But here's my argument. The NCAA Tournament starts today. Is it dumb? Yes, I'm not a smart person. But I do know college basketball. You know what I see when I look at the college basketball calendar today? Two games at 7pm. Queens vs FGCU and Bellarmine vs North Florida.

Elimination games.

That's the NCAA Tournament. For those (except Queens/Bellarmine because of the whole dumbass transition to Division I thing), it's win to keep your season alive. It's the best type of basketball. Today might just start with a couple games, but by the end of the week we're fully in. We have auto bids handed out this weekend. Saturday we have 11 conference tournaments going on.

That's awesome. That's what we're going to lose the moment the NCAA expands. We lose 2 weeks of conference tournaments which are somehow underrated, even more with so many conferences having unbalanced regular season schedules. I don't want to lose the feeling of the next two weeks because the NCAA wants the 11th best team in the Big 10 in the NCAA Tournament. Fuck that.

College basketball is at its best when it's mayhem like this. One bid leagues matter - look at St. Peter's, Oral Roberts, FGCU. The multi bid leagues matter - look at every single tournament winner. The point is we already have NCAA Tournament expansion because of conference tournaments. It makes the sport the best during these 5 weeks. You're playing teams from your own conference who you know just trying anything to make one run.

And just to wet the beak - these tournaments start today or tomorrow - give me the following:

Louisiana +300, Youngstown State +150, Kennesaw State +275

These tournaments do often get dominated by the top 2-3 seeds and that's what you see here. Not to mention Youngstown State is one of the most fun teams to watch in the country. Their offense is legit as hell.
