Sweeping That Sorry Ass Tennessee Program Is Exactly How Kentucky Saved Its Season

That right there is how you save a season. You sweep those disgusting people who wear orange. But this is about John Calipari. The man has been beaten down left and right this season - rightfully so. Except when two times when it was a must-win. Both times he beat Tennessee. Both times he showed why he's in the Hall of Fame.

The question is - where the hell is this the rest of the year?

He finally posted up Chris Livingston and Cason Wallace against smaller guards. He subbed correctly - looking at bringing in Damion Collins late in the 1st half so Wallace wouldn't get a cheap 2nd foul. That paid off for a big rebound and free throws. He brought Oscar back in at the right time with 4 fouls. He utilized people like Lance Ware and Thiero when he had to and didn't just leave them out there.

That's the guy we hired. That's the guy who is supposed to sweep Tennessee - a sorry ass program with 0 Final Fours and just one Elite Eight. Poverty program really.

Now, let's not twist it. This season has been bad by Kentucky standards. Floating around bubble talk? Gross. Losing to Georgia and South Carolina - even short handed? Gross. But picking up two quad 1 wins this week, sweeping Tennessee and a favorable schedule down the stretch means they should be looking at getting off the bubble and being a double-bye in the SEC Tournament. We've seen this happen before.

Cal just needs to convince himself everyone is against him. That's when he's at his best. That's when Kentucky is at their best. Talk to Kirby Smart and Travis Kelce. Figure out how to get some fake motivation. It works.

Win. Sweep. Fuck Tennessee.

Reminder - Chris Livingston is good.
