The Clippers Are Reportedly Talking With Russell Westbrook And The Potential For Chaos Just Went Up A Notch

Please, PLEASE let this happen. When it comes to the buyout market, we're still waiting to see where some pretty big names are going to end up. The Cavs are buying out Kevin Love and then there's the whole Russell Westbrook fiasco. With him, you're hearing the usual suspects like the Heat, Clippers, Bulls, Wizards etc.

But to now learn that the Clipper actually secured a meeting and this could become a reality? Sign me up for it immediately. 

From a basketball standpoint, I'm not sure it helps the Clippers. Going from John Wall to Russell Westbrook doesn't exactly move the needle, but this is not about basketball. This is about drama. You can't sit there and tell me you wouldn't love Westbrook going to the in city rival Clippers, a team that has owned the Lakers in their last 14 meetings (12-2). I know the Lakers stink, are still buried in the Lottery, and don't really own any of the tie breakers they may need, but I'm pretty certain Adam Silver is going to do his best David Stern impression and make sure LeBron is in at least the Play In tournament.

It's also not a lock that the Clippers don't stay in the top 6. They have just a 1 game lead over DAL/MIN for the 5th spot, and a bad week could have them in the Play In as well.

Just imagine a Play In game between the Lakers and Clippers. Then imagine if the Lakers lose to the Russell Westbrook Clippers. That would make for TREMENDOUS content. You may not remember, but the Lakers spent basically Russ' entire tenure as a Laker blaming him for everything that was wrong. The second he got traded, they sent out their media mouthpieces to trash him every chance they got. They called him the vampire of the locker room!

So to see them immediately lose to a team that employs Russell Westbrook would be the icing on the cake. You can't write a funnier script than that, which is why I need this to happen. In looking at the Clippers depth chart, there is a need for point guard

and while there's a strong chance that the Clippers find themselves in a playoff game and instead of giving the ball to Kawhi we get to see Westbrook take 15 jumpers, that's the type of chaos I want to see. 

At this point, all the other rumored destinations don't really bring that much drama. Sure it could be fun to see Jimmy Butler lose his shit at Westbrook, but I put a potential revenge tour against the Lakers at the top of the list. It would be hilarious if suddenly Russ completely changed how he played and things worked perfectly as a Clipper as a giant fuck you to LeBron and the Lakers.

So please, Basketball Gods, I'm begging you. Not only do I need you to make this happen, I also need you to give us at least a Play In Tournament game between LAL/LAC. We were robbed of this matchup in the bubble because the Clippers choked. Let us have it just once.
