New Braves Announcer Brandon Gaudin Wrote Skip Caray A Letter When He Was 13 Asking How He Could Get The Job He Just Got

This rocks. Brandon Gaudin wrote this letter to Skip Caray in 1997 asking how he could get into broadcasting and now in 2023, he just became the new voice of the Atlanta Braves — replacing Skip's son.

I've liked Gaudin every time I've heard him and getting someone who grew up a Braves fan listening to the TBS broadcast crew is a massive win. I think most Braves fans were not huge fans of Chip Caray, but obviously keeping the ties to the GOAT broadcasters made sense. And if the Braves play-by-play guy isn't going to have the last name Caray, this feels like a great way to still have a tie back to the crew that Braves fans of a certain age — or just baseball fans anywhere in America — grew up on.

I'm excited to hear a Braves fan call Braves games again. Obviously I'm sure Chip Caray developed some sort of affinity for the Braves over the years, but if you got through 25 of the 162 annual broadcasts without a mention of the Cubs or Cardinals, it was a good season. Just the beginning of Gaudin's letter from 25 years ago has me sold on him.
