Before The Steelers Week 4 Game Against The Jets, Mitchell Trubisky Was Reportedly Punched In The Face By Diontae Johnson And Then Benched For Kenny Pickett

The Steelers started off 2-6 and eventually missed the playoff because of it. A lot of people assume that had they decided to start rookie QB Kenny Pickett Week 1 that they would have gotten through his growing pains quicker and the team would have made the postseason.

Instead, Mike Tomlin and the Steelers went the traditional route. You know, where you sit your rookie QB long enough for your star receiver to punch the lame duck veteran QB in the face because he sucks so bad. Or at least that's what Gregg Giannotti from the Boomer and Gio show is saying.

If this is true then it has to go down in the history books as one of the worst weeks ever. Right up there with that dude who is married to the cop who got railed by the entire department. I mean how do you get punched in the face and then you get benched because of it?

I find Mike Tomlin fascinating because I don't think a coach in history has ever run a locker room where talent always wins out but guys still fall in line and do what they're told. So that makes me think that Tomlin was perfectly fine with Johnson throwing an overhand right to the face of his QB who was stinking up the joint. Allegedly.

So supposedly after Trubisky gets snuffed, he starts against the Jets and goes 7-13 for 84 yards and an interception and Tomlin said enough is enough. I'm going to punch myself in the face if I have to watch any more of this shit.

And thus the Kenny Pickett era was born.

Now Diontae Johnson is saying the story is cap but of course he is. If it didn't happen then he needs to set the record straight. And if it did happen then it's probably in his best interest to pretend like it didn't.

I actually think he should embrace the story either way. The season pretty much turned for the Steelers once Pickett became the starter. They went 7-2 down the stretch and this is his chance to take some of the credit for that turnaround.

Because it certainly wasn't all the touchdowns he scored that helped them turn the tide.
