Russell Westbrook Hasn't Even Been Gone For A Full Day And The Lakers Are Already Slandering Him Through The Media

While he didn't always make life easy on himself, I thought it was weird how the Lakers and their fans put all of the team's struggles and underachievement on Russell Westbrook. Sure his shot is broken as hell, his turnovers are a bit of an issue, but he also was more than willing to accept his bench role and actually wasn't so terrible with it. I couldn't understand how it was his problem that Rob Pelinka built a shitty roster or that the team caved to LeBron's demands to trade for Westbrook in the first place.

Trading for Russell Westbrook and then getting mad or blaming Russell Westbrook for playing like Russell Westbrook seems a little backwards. At this point he's a cooked egg. He's not going to drastically change his style or any of that sutff at this stage of his career. This is the same reality the team that gets him as a buyout guy will also have to deal with. Whether that's the Clippers or the Heat or whoever, at this point we know what Russ is.

Which is why I find it to be extremely pathetic that the second the Lakers shipped Westbrook out the door, now all these "sources" are once again slandering him in the media.

Is there any doubt where this is coming from?

Does it surprise anyone that two Klutch mouthpieces are talking like this about Westbrook? It's not LeBron's fault, Westbrook was the problem! Things will be different now that he's gone!

I'm sorry, but was it Westbrook's fault that Anthony Davis no showed against the Thunder the other night? Is it Westbrook's fault that this roster once again wasn't built with any shooting? Those weren't problems, but Westbrook as the one killing them? Have some shame LeBron.

Again, this is not me saying Westbrook was perfect in LA. That fit was a disaster from the start and is a trade that should have never happened in the first place considering there were better fits on the table. But it's some nasty work to trade the guy and then have your media sources go on TV and slander the guy like this. Who are the Lakers going to blame if nothing changes? I'm not sure if they've noticed, but all the other teams in the West are loading up too. Now that Westbrook is off the table, I guess the time has come for LeBron & Co to pick another scapegoat if it doesn't work out.
