Elio May Have Lost His Mind

I'm not saying this because he's a nice guy, or that he works for the company, or that he needs the publicity. I actually got sent this by a friend who said "What a steal" . It stopped me in my tracks. It's one of those deals I wonder if he even makes a profit on. NYC prices are a different animal but sometimes a large pie itself is $22, so to see wings and two soda's as a throw in even sweetens the pot. I think we're in a chicken shortage also. What a steal.

While Elio should be commended for this great deal, and everyone should go pick up the special in the Massachusetts area, it got me to thinking. What's the best deal you ever got at a restaurant or a fast food restaurant ? I have always felt like bang for your buck is something that caught my eye. Maybe it was being poor for a while, or waiting until the very last minute to get food that I was absolutely starving and wanted the most amount of food possible, but either way, deals always jumped out to me.

Off the top of my head ... the $5 footlong, the 5-5-5 from Domino's , the $1 menu at Mcdonalds, half price apps at Applebees, and 2 for $4 Big Mac deal that randomly popped up jump out as some of the best bang for your buck deals in the game. I distinctly remember feeling like you got your money's worth leaving, or that you were filled up and didn't have to spend a lot of money. But the two deals that will always stand out to me for eternity are both from the same place.

In High School, we had to go down to Sunset Park to get them, but 2 for $1 tacos at Taco Bell was basically stealing. It was the fall of 2004, and the spring of 2005 and we damn near hit this place every week. We would illegally leave high school , drive down on free periods, or double free periods, and go get lunch there. By the spring time we had kids handing us dollars and $5 dollar bills telling them to bring back lunch. One time a poor bastard from the area went in to get lunch and heard the 5 of us in front of him order a combined 68 tacos. He walked out and left. My buddy GC's father used to hand him $20 and tell him get himself 40 tacos for the week and keep them in the freezer and defrost as necessary. That still to me is the best deal of all time.

A very close runner up ... again from Taco Bell ... was the original $5 box.

That was a damn steal .... STEAL.

Taco Bell really was for the people back in the day. I remember the family feast meal they had or something it was 10 tacos and some other shit for like $12 total. Joke. They gave the place away.

For my money, Elio is giving away a great deal, but the best deals I have ever seen in the fast food game are from Taco Bell and it's not even close. I'm excited to see what mom and pop places have great deals or what fast food places you think I missed.
