You know the drill! Take cover! Shams bomb incoming!!!

What, you thought you were going to be able to sleep? Don't be stupid! It's trade deadline day! There is no sleep when at any moment your phone is going to vibrate with a Shams or Woj bomb and holy shit are we off and running, It started with the Russell Westbrook 3 team trade, then we learned about some smaller trades like Josh Hard for Cam Reddish and Jakob Poeltl to the Raptors. Those are nice I guess but don't really move the needle.

This? KEVIN DURANT?

Yeah, that's a big deal.

You want fireworks, you have them in a move like this. It's funny, I remember reading yesterday that the Nets weren't looking to trade Durant

Whoops! Because here we are 24 hours later and guess what? Kevin Durant is a member of the Phoenix Suns. KD, Booker, CP3, Ayton. There's your core for the new look Suns. They got themselves a new owner and when that happens those new owners want to make a splash and this is certainly a splash. The fact that Durant goes to the Suns after Kyrie went to the Mavs could not be mroe perfect considering those two teams hate each other. Now we get to add a spiteful Durant to that rivalry. Sign me the fuck up for 7 games of that please and thank you.

Now, let's talk about the cost.

Four unprotected first round picks. FOUR. For a 34 year old Durant. That's a little insane in my book, but no chance this new owner gives a shit about any of that. He's in it for the long haul I imagine. Fuck them picks as the kids say these days. I guess when you have a chance to add Durant and you can do it while keeping Booker, CP3 and Ayton, you do it? I mean that's a pretty legit foursome. Unless you have the wing depth, guarding KD and Booker at the same time might be a bit of a challenge. Especially when you have to worry about CP3 midrange or P&R with Ayton. They lose some on ball defense with Mikal Bridges but I'm thinking the Suns are fine with the trade off.

For the Nets, this is it right? Time to fully rebuild. Or maybe retool is the better word because they have brought in a bunch of solid NBA players. It sort of takes them out of title contention and you run the risk of entering NBA purgatory, but turning KD and Kyrie into Dinwiddie/DFS/Bridges/Johnson/etc plus 5 first round picks isn't the worst return in the world. It sucks you're still stuck with Ben Simmons, but I imagine he'll be in a new home shortly as well.

I think I need a minute to sit back and digest what just happened. Shoutout to me for blogging this all in real time as these Shams/Woj bombs are flying in. God I love the NBA Trade deadline. There's nothing like it on earth.
