Keith Mitchell & Josh Allen Accused Aaron Rodgers of Cheating At Golf, But to Be Fair Handicaps Are Stupid

NY Post - Pro golfer Keith Mitchell — who played the Pro-Am version of the tournament with Rodgers’ NFL rival, Bills quarterback Josh Allen — was not shy about calling out the future Hall of Famer.

“I think Josh and I won,” Mitchell, who finished the professional side of the tournament tied for fourth, said when asked how he did in the Pro-Am. “Aaron Rodgers doesn’t count. His handicap was crap.”

It's the company line here to hate Aaron Rodgers. I for the most part agree, and go along with it. I've always found him to be a smug asshole. I enjoy watching him lose. Any time you have a small window to accuse Aaron Rodgers of cheating you have to do it. Putting 'Aaron Rodgers' and 'cheating' in the same headline is just good business here at Barstool Sports.

But I will say, golf handicaps are fucking stupid. I've golfed my whole life. Played "competitively" in high school and all that bullshit. So there was a good 4-5 years where I golfed pretty much every day in the summer. But I have never once bothered to track my handicap. I didn't feel like. It always annoyed me that I was expected to do so. I just cared about my actual scores. I knew roughly what my handicap probably was, but if I want to gamble on the course with someone, I'll play them straight up. Or if it's a friend, we'll set our own stipulations before the round. I'm not gonna bet against someone who's game I know nothing about. It's bullshit to have to throw money down against a stranger you've never met who "supposedly" has a 20 handicap. How the hell do I know that number is legit? Golf is supposed to be a game of honor, but people cheat in golf more than anything else. High school golf is basically a cheating competition. Golf scores & handicaps are so easy to lie about it. To just submit wrong scores, leave out certain rounds, take a mulligan when nobody is looking, drop a ball in the trees, sneakily set your ball marker a few inches closer to the hole, etc. I don't trust anyone out there.

And I bet a lot of times, the sandbagging individual isn't even intentionally cheating. They're just too lazy to track every round. But Aaron Rodgers does seem like the type of guy to fudge his handicap to win a relatively meaningless Pro-Am. Josh Allen certainly thinks Aaron Rodgers was full of shit.

NY Post - When Josh Allen was asked if Rodgers’ win should come with an asterisk, Allen said, “100 percent.”

“It’s only three rounds and a 2.6 handicap got 10 shots? Come on now. I don’t know. I’m not the person to ask that question. But it is what it is,” Allen said.

Barstool is an anti-Aaron Rodgers company, but we are quite clearly a pro-Josh Allen company. So I am contractually obligated to agree with Josh Allen here. Aaron Rodgers is a big fat cheater. He should have an asterisk next to his win. He should have an asterisk next to all of his wins in every sport to be honest. I would even say he deserves jail time.
