I Don't Know Why "Station 11" Didn't Get Hyped In The Culture The Way "The Last Of Us" Has Been Lately
I don't often put my entertainment takes on this site because...I feel like I am a caveman when it comes to judging shows and movies. I can't judge cinematography, or adapted screen plays, or any of the various categories that they give out awards for at the Oscars. It is very binary for me. This show good, that show bad. I often can't even explain why I like a show.
With that said...I really liked this show that was an HBO Max original series, "Station 11". I feel like every Sunday night people are tweeting about "The Last Of Us". It is getting the social media treatment that Succession and other culturally significant shows got. Post apocalyptic world after a pandemic killed off the population (feels like we've had a lot of pandemic content going on lately). I watched episode 1 and 2 of "The Last Of Us" last night. I am enjoying it so far. I don't think it is light years better than Station 11 though and I don't understand why Station 11 got ZERO attention. Maybe because it is a bit of a slow burn, maybe it was too early in the HBO Max days, maybe because people didn't want to watch a show about a pandemic while we were living in one. Maybe I just have weird taste in TV. Could be any of those I guess, but I want people to watch it. Some of my favorite shows are Mad Men and The Leftovers. I think if you're open to the apocalypse genre and like those two shows then you'll LOVE "Station 11". I need more people to get on that. I might even do a re-watch.
And...if you're interested in the real world population collapse we have an episode of Dogwalk talking all about how nobody wants to fuck anymore.
