The Official NBA Ref Twitter Account Wrote A Hilariously Pathetic Apology Tweet To LeBron James And The Lakers For Their Missed Call

You may not have heard, but there was a rather controversial missed call in the final moments of regulation in Satruday night's game between the Celtics and Lakers involving LeBron James. The refs missed a call, LeBron threw a temper tantrum, and the Lakers ultimately lost in OT. It was a whole big thing

Sure they could have just not let Jaylen Brown get an OREB on the previous possession and sure they could have not fouled Jaylen on his shot, or maybe they could have just won in OT, but they didn't. Instead, the Lakers and their fans cried about how unfair and rigged it was. No debate from me there, it was a brutal missed call. It's interesting though that you didn't hear those same people talking about this little nugget

Whoops! Those damn refs!

In all seriousness, it was an awful missed call, but it certainly was not the first time we've seen officials have an impact on the result of a game this season. I've written plenty of blogs on that very topic which cover a wide variety of teams. It eventually happens to a bunch of teams over the course of 82, and everyone with a working brain and eyes can see that it's a problem. Well, I guess everyone other than Adam Silver. He clearly does not give a shit or else he'd do something about it.

NBA officials don't really have to answer for their mistakes. Nothing changes, there's no accountability, and they just keep it moving onto the next game. They still get assigned huge playoffs and Finals games. On what planet should Tony Brothers still be working these huge games? Because the league doesn't care.

That is…unless LeBron cries. I have to be honest, I don't think I've EVER seen the official NBA Refs Twitter account do something like what they did after the LeBron call. I legit gasped

Gut-wrenching? Will weigh heavily? Sleepless nights?

Have some fucking shame! Did you see this exact tweet on any of the other plethoras of missed calls at the end of games this season that did not involve LeBron crying like a baby? But because it's him and it's the Lakers, you throw out that kind of tweet? This might be even more pathetic than missing the call in the first place! Don't worry guys, the refs and the league aren't doing jack shit to actually improve their product and hold their officials accountable, but that's ok because they currently are losing sleep over it. All good! Nothing to see here!

I had to read the tweet a few times and double/triple check it was the real account and that I wasn't getting JMac'd, but nope. It's real. I mean, where was this tweet after the Bulls/Cavs ending? Or the Bulls/Pacers? Or the Celts/Cavs debacle? Or that time the league admitted Tyler Herro traveled on his game winner against the Kings? You got crickets from this account about how it was weighing heavily on them or whatever bullshit they tried to spin.

In reality, we only see something like this when it impacts LeBron. That is so pathetic. Maybe hold the officials accountable? That's clearly not happening

So why as a fan should I give a shit about how the refs "feel"? I would love to know the mindset of the person who sent that tweet. Did they think they nailed it after they hit send? On what planet does anyone think a tweet like that is not only a bad decision, but won't also instantly make things 10000x worse?

It would be one thing if these issues never happened and the call against LeBron was the first one. I guess I could understand that angle. But in reality, this happens every night to teams that do not employ LeBron James and this Twitter account never apologizes for it. A quick little LeBron temper tantrum got them to bend the knee, and that is just so sad.

I'm almost rooting for another end of game disaster just to see what this account does next. It has to tweet something like this out every time now right? The seal has been broken, you can't put that toothpaste back in the tube.
