Rockies' Owner Dick Monfort Can't Stop Talking Out Of His Ass And Lives In A Bizzaro World Where He Think's The Rockies Can Play .500 Ball

Hooo boy did Rockies owner Dick Monfort talk himself into a pickle this weekend. While speaking at an event this weekend he made a bunch of wild statements, but this one made me laugh the hardest. He stood up there and exclaimed that he thinks the Rockies can play .500 baseball this season.....In what world? Last year they finished 68-94, for you non-math people that is 26 games below .500. Well maybe they signed a lot of people this off-season, right? Wrong. They've signed not 1, but 2 guys! Reliever Pierce Johnson and Starter Jose Urena. Those 2 moves for sure had the Dodgers and Padres shaking in their boots. 

But seriously, to go in front of a Rockies fanbase and tell them that without laughing is legit laughable. Rockies fans have been mad at this dude for a while. He's another guy who doesn't really care about winning games. He's fine with signing Kris Bryant, watching him get hurt and then sit out a billion games as the Rockies continue to finish in dead last place in the division. Cuz spending that much and then calling it quits isn't how the Rockies want to operate. He let the crowd know that. In fact he said flat out doesn't agree with other teams spending so much money....this is a man with a net worth of $700 Million saying he doesn't like other teams spending money.

He then had the balls to question how the Padres do their spending and talk about how he doesn't agree with this. What a slap in the face to the fans and the team. He is basically saying he "doesn't agree with spending a lot of money". What kind of idiot owner says that?

In the Denver Post, Patrick Saunders wrote some of the more....insane quotes from Monfort from this weekend....

"That puts a lot of pressure (on us),” Monfort said. “But it’s not just the Padres, it’s the Mets, it’s the Phillies. This has been an interesting year.

“What the Padres are doing, I don’t 100% agree with, though I know that our fans probably agree with it. We’ll see how it works out.

“I look at the Padres and they have a really talented team, but they have some holes, too. They’ve got three, maybe four starting pitchers, and then they’re sort of like us. They have (Joe) Musgrave, (Blake) Snell and (Yu) Darvish, so I don’t know. They have spent a lot of money and they will have to spend a lot more if they want to keep (outfielder) Juan Soto. But it does put a lot of pressure on you. Yes, it does.”

What the hell is this guy talking about? He says that other teams spending money puts pressure on them? Shouldn't other teams getting better and spending make you want to….get better and spend? What a crazy thing for this guy to say. And where is he getting the idea to compare his team to the Padres. The only thing they have had in common in the last 3 years are they both had an unreal third baseman….until the Rockies traded theirs. Just idiotic statement after idiotic statement made by this guy. 

I think I'll have to responsibly gamble on the Rockies going under .500, because with this bozo at the helm no wonder they haven't sniffed a playoff spot in years. Rockies fans have to want this guy gone, they deserve much better.
