Despite the losing streak, the Pelicans are still in 4th place in the West but it is extremely crowded. The difference between 4th and the 13th place Lakers is only 4 games!
I went to the Nuggets game last night in the Blender. Despite all the injuries, it was still a helluva game against the #1 team in the West. I took the Pelicans (+1) on the Barstool Sportsbook because I thought Nikola Jokic was out. I was NOT HAPPY when he was announced healthy before the game but it was to late to back out of my bet.
The Pelicans got absolutely smoked in the 1st half but fought back in the 3rd quarter cutting the lead to 9.Then, Jose Alvarado single handedly set the building ON FIRE in the 4th. He was the one man gang and the arena was going bananas.
New Orleans clawed all the way back to take a one point lead late only for Nikola Jokic to score. Then CJ McCollum took an awful 3 and the Pels lost by 1. CJ shot a woeful 0-8 from 3 last night and there were fans upset about the last shot.
I ended up pushing my Pelicans bet which felt like a win after how bad they were losing most of the game. The Barstool NOLA account and me are collaborating on Pels bets for each game.
Despite the heartbreaking ending, it is impossible to be mad at this team. That arena was on FIRE in the 4th and they almost beat the top team in the West when extremely short handed.
Hopefully that momentum carries into tonight against the TWolves with the return of Brandon Ingram!
