Gisele Was Right

Quite frankly, I wouldn't want Tom Brady to be my husband either after that. A performance so bad, it completely validated her decision to leave him. Was he high? Was he high on drugs? I've never seen him play like that. It was like watching your husband poop his pants at the county fair, then make a joke like "stay away from the nachos!" to cover it up. Embarrassing.
When Tom elected to continue his football career instead of heeding Gisele's ultimatum that he retire, people picked sides. Many went with her, saying she'd waited for him all these years, stood by his side, moved all the way from Boston to Florida. Packed the van herself. Threw her back out lifting an ottoman into the U-Haul. A completely devoted wife, putting her husband's career first, keeping the family together, adhering to the patriarchy and regressive gender norms; only to be rewarded with his selfishness, his narcissism.
Others went with him. It's Tom Brady. You knew what you signed up for. The guy can't live without football. Greatest player ever. Will play until he's 75. Won't eat tomatoes. Open-mouth kisses his son in Ugg boots. In short, you can't shake him from his path—he rolls to his own beat. Sorry toots, this is Tommy's world and we're all just living in it.
And then there were those who took a more pragmatic point of view. The ends justify the means. If he wins another Superbowl, maybe one wife is a fair price? If he wins TWO more, then maybe they should never have been married in the first place? Has… has she been holding him back all these years? Their words, not mine.
Well, last night's performance has me planting my flag firmly in Gisele's court. She was right all along. She won. A brilliant woman cut bait before it sunk the ship.
Here's to you, Gisele Bündchen. Welcome to the rest of your life.
