Orioles CEO John Angelos Scheduled A Press Conference On MLK Day...And Then Refused To Take Questions From Reporters Because It Is MLK Day

So this is one of the more INSANE spin zones I've EVER heard come out of someone's mouth. Orioles CEO and the son of owner John Angelos scheduled a press conference for Monday afternoon, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. A great holiday that we use to reflect on the life and messages of Dr. King. Angelos was with Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott as they discussed a new $5 Million scholarship initiative for Baltimore students in a partnership with Collegeboard Foundation. A great program and a great move by the Orioles to help kids in their city. Wonderful move.

Naturally, they invited the Orioles beat reporters to come and ask questions since it was a press conference. And because he is John Angelos, the state of the ball club came up and reporters started asking questions about the Orioles. Dan Connolly of The Athletic asked about the situation and plan for the Orioles and the Angelos family going forward since we have two brothers suing each other to try and get control of the team. This is when Angelos used an all-time spin zone saying that he wouldn't answer questions about the team and that reporters needed to "get some perspective and that he wouldn’t discuss that on MLK Day."

He used MLK Day as an excuse to dodge questions. Is he serious? This is a Curb Your Enthusiasm type of move. He held a press conference on MLK Day and then didn't want to answer questions and said it was because of MLK Day!

That's the story of our Orioles though, right? 2 steps forward, 1 step back. 20 years of rebuilding, brothers suing, and a city dying for them to finally figure it all out so we can move forward.
