RIP To One Of The Funniest Underrated Characters In The Wire

Some may have hated him, some loved him. But very few can argue the terrific role the great Al Brown played as "Valchek" in the critically acclaimed HBO show "The Wire"

According to recent reports, Mr. Brown passed away recently. Al would have several small roles in several TV shows but he is most known for his breakthrough role of Polish-American police official Stan Valchek. Most of Valchek's scenes were electric and he had some terrific one liners. Mr. Brown was raised in the Philly area and spent the first half of his adult life in the PA National Guard ultimately working with the US Environmental Protection Agency before getting into acting according to his LinkedIn page.

Let's look back at some of the best and funniest scenes from Valchek... there was never a dull moment with him on screen. BEWARE some spoilers, if you are nuts and haven't seen the show

Valchek spars with Sobotka over a church window and starts his beef with the ILA stevedore and Sobotka destroys him

He shakes down Burrell over his pettiness over Sobotka

He goes on a rampage about not enough focus on Sobotka during investigation. "Fuckin rat fuckers all of ya"

His son in law socks him after Valchek publicly shames him in front of the whole unit… in my opinion one of the funnier scenes in the show

In later seasons, he acts as an ear for Herc who walks in on the mayor getting dome

Sobotka trolls him even from the grave

RIP AL
