The wait is finally over...almost. We finally have details about the upcoming Netflix golf show—it's called "Full Swing," it's coming out Feb. 15 and it's got one helluva cast list.
The big news here is the addition of Rory McIlroy, who signed on to participate in the show late into the process. Rory obviously played a central role in world golf this year—from emerging as the de-facto spokesman for the PGA Tour in its battle with LIV Golf, to breaking the hearts of millions with his near-miss at the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews, to winning the FedEx Cup and returning to world No. 1. Given Rory's honesty and willingness to say anything, about anyone, he's a huge add to the program.
A lot of folks on social media seem to believe that this is a "PGA Tour show," which insinuates that they will either ignore the entire LIV Golf saga or denigrate those who decided to sign with LIV. All signs point toward that not being true; the show closely follows Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Ian Poulter, all of whom left the PGA Tour during the process of filming.
What a great trailer. Also, one voice in there sounds pretty familiar. Hmmmmmm. Eyes emoji.
As has been said countless times before, the producers for this show couldn't have picked a better year to begin their journey of chronicling the PGA Tour. Feb. 15 can't come soon enough. Here's to hoping Tiger and Phil catch a case of FOMO and sign on for Season 2.
