Is It Scripted Or Is Skip Bayless Truly The World's Biggest Asshole? The Answer Is Both.
Look, when you've been on the internet as long as I have, you are skeptical of everything. Every video, everything on IG or Twitter you take with a grain of salt. Basically the internet has devolved into WWE where everyone is doing a bit or playing a character at all times. The louder you yell, the more obnoxious things you say, the more eyeballs you get. There's no place for rational thought online anymore. If you use logic and have thoughtful discourse nobody cares. If you tweet the dumbest shit and yell the loudest, people give you engagement and hit you with a follow because they want to see what dumb shit you're going to say next. At least when Stern invented it, he was original, funny, and entertaining. Now it's a battle of who can be the dumbest and the loudest.
And that's where Skip Bayless comes in. He has made a career out of being the worst. He's never been held accountable for anything stupid he says. He'll say something like "Clearly Matt Flynn is better at QB than Tom Brady" and half the people start shouting and arguing, and the other half goes "oh that's just Skip being Skip". And he's made asinine statements every day for decades now. And that's how you know it's fake. Nobody can believe the opposite of reality to be true day after day, week after week, year after year. He has made himself a millionaire by yelling the wrongest thing the loudest.

But even if it is scripted, he's still a fucking asshole. He made a name for himself trying to out Troy Aikman as gay. He called Dak Presscot weak for being depressed after the suicide of his brother. And for as big as he become, he also has terrible TV ratings.
If Skip isn't playing a character, he's an asshole. If he is playing a character, he's an asshole. Because in every form of entertainment, people will break kayfabe when something serious is going on. But it's clear- his character has become who he is. That's why people got angry about his MNF tweet- he has done nothing to give himself the benefit of the doubt. Somehow people were supposed to know this is the one time in his life he wasn't being a miserable piece of shit? Miss me with that. Skip deserves zero benefit of the doubt on anything he says, and today proved it.
Skip Bayless sucks, dude. There's no two ways about it, the guy just sucks. I don't care if this segment with Shannon is real, fake, or inbetween, it's the fact he is still doing this shit for attention (and yep, I'm giving it to him) which makes him suck. But I think we do a good job of mostly not giving him attention, and I am excited to get back to that.
