The Masters Sent An Invite To The Wrong Scott Stallings, Just An All-Time Mix Up

Hard to believe this can happen in 2022, but here we are. Apparently the Masters Tournament—that famous one at Augusta National Golf Club, the one every golfer dreams of playing in—they invited the wrong guy. Like, they actually invited the wrong guy.

It all stems from Augusta's charming tradition of sending physical invitations to every player. Every year, guys who've qualified for the event wait for that famous piece of paper in the mail, and when it comes they typically take to social media to flex a little bit. It's a nice little yearly tradition.

Unless you're Scott Stallings. The 37-year-old got hot at the right time during the FedEx Cup playoffs and qualified for the Tour Championship, which gets you into all four majors for the following year. That meant he was into the Masters for just the second time in his career and the first since 2014. He must've been waiting with bated breath for that invitation to arrive. Waiting…and waiting…and waiting, cuz that shit just wasn't arriving.

Turns out they sent it to the wrong Scott Stallings. No, really.

What a legend that other Scott Stallings is. My man could've pulled up on Magnolia Lane in the spring and tried to talk his way in. He was invited to an invite-only event, after all. Technically speaking, he'd have a decent chance. But this man has been named Scott Stallings for many years. And with his wife also sharing a name with Mrs. Stallings, you gotta think he's been aware of this name situation for a while. Or maybe not? Because the way he says "I play but wow! No where near your level" would seem to suggest he's just discovering the other Scott Stallings? That's a pretty distinct name; you're telling me the guy never googled himself and discovered the better golfing Scott?

Either way, he did the right thing and got the invite in the right hands. What a relief getting this message must've been for the golfing Scott Stallings. I would not trying to send Augusta National the "don't think I got your wedding invite in the mail" text. Now he doesn't have to. See you in April, Scott.
