Those are all things I assume the Carr family and the very few defenders he has will be saying right now. As much of a disaster the Raiders are. As easy as it is to make fun of the Raiders, at least they realized the obvious - way too late, but you get the point.

Derek Carr is the definition of average at best quarterback. I told you this when he was crying his eyes out:

I don't feel any sort of empathy for a guy who is as average as average gets not winning enough. Don't get me wrong, the Raiders are a shitshow and will always be a shitshow, but let's not pretend like Derek Carr isn't part of the problem here.
Just this year alone Carr is 14th in yards, 24th in completion percentage, 11th in touchdowns, 15th in quarterback rating. That screams I'm an average quarterback and 100% part of the reason we don't have a ton of success. I know people will say Renfrow and Waller were hurt. Sure, they are the only two key players in the entire league that have missed time.

It got to the point where Matty Fitz tried to stick up for Carr:
But now point, counterpoint: he was benched for Jarrett Stidham. That's how bad he has been. He's being talked about dead cap space. That's how bad he has been. Data-driven point for me.
This is just another reason why you don't give some ridiculous contract for a guy who everyone knows isn't 'THE' guy. I know it's a short list. But you better be damn sure before offering a major deal. At some point you need to say okay prove it. Prove it more than one year where you lose in the wild card.
Now it's Stidham vs the 49ers and Chiefs to close out the season. Playoff implications for other teams rely on that. What a league.
