Southwest Airlines Canceled 67% Of Their Flights Today (And Counting!) In What Some Are Calling The Biggest Airline Meltdown Of All Time

Things are bad!!!! Prayers up to anyone traveling today, it looks like your worst nightmare's worst nightmare. And triple prayers up if you booked yourself on Southwest because they are doing the worst out of any airline, having canceled a whopping, staggering, unbelievable 67%(!!!!!!!) of flights today and counting!

News - Southwest Airlines cancelled more than 2,700 flights on the day after Christmas than any other US-based airline.

According to FlightAware, Southwest had cancelled 2,725 flights by 5 p.m. December 26. That’s 67% of its total flights.

Over Christmas weekend, the United States was hit by a devastating winter storm that caused heavy snowfall and power outages in Northeast.

On Monday night, Denver, Las Vegas and Chicago Midway were the airports with the highest number of cancellations.

According to FlightAware, Southwest cancelled the most flights of any airline based in the US Monday. Delta, which cancelled 262 flights, was second. United cancelled 133 flights. American Airlines cancelled only 12 flights, but it experienced 792 delays. This account accounted for almost a quarter worldwide flight delays on Monday.

Sheeeeesh! That's just fucked up. 2 out of every 3 flights just never took off today. Thought the airport was already a hell hole of fat moms and kids on leashes and $29 salads? Well now add another 67% of people, stranded with nowhere to go. If this was a form of torture the Geneva Convention would reform to ban it. I'm not actually sure how the Geneva Convention works but Smitty says it all the time so I'm going with it.

It's such a disaster. Because when flights are canceled now you have to re-book everyone…but how does one airline re-book an overwhelming majority of their passengers? They just hope people say "fuck you" to Southwest and drop infinity dollars to get a last second seat on another airline. And then guess what? Southwest doesn't have to pay for ANYTHING. It's so fucked up. It should be illegal. Take our guy Chuck, for example:

Had a 6am flight home from Chicago tomorrow morning, canceled. So instead of being stuck in Chicago until Friday he just had to drop a grand to fly Delta on Wednesday. Southwest SHOULD have to pay for that, but of course they don't. They aren't canceling flights because of weather, they are cancelling because they are inept. It should be illegal.

So once again, my prayers are up to you if you are stuck in this travesty of a situation. And if the Chili's runs out of tequila, may god have mercy on everyone's soul.

Edit: Just saw this one! 90% canceled and they can't rebook anyone for 4 days!!!!
