Ja Morant Says He Doesn't Fear Any Team In the West And That The Grizzlies Only Have To Worry About The Celtics

There are many reasons to love Ja Morant. He plays an extremely exciting brand of basketball where he's doing shit on the court on a nightly basis that shouldn't be humanly possible. His team is really good, he loves to talk shit, and most importantly he's regarded as the most honest player in the NBA. OK, maybe I made that last part up but at the same time I don't think I've ever heard him tell a lie. For example, let's have a listen to what Ja had to say when it came to the NBA teams he and the Grizzlies need to be concerned about moving forward this year

Listen, I am aware the Celts are in the middle of a brutal stretch where they've lost 4 of 5 while playing some of the most disgusting basketball we've ever seen. Despite that, they still have one of the best records in the NBA so I can understand why Ja feels this way. Their battle earlier in the year was very fun to watch

I can certainly get behind a Grizzlies/Celts NBA Finals, that would be awesome. Two young teams with high level talent, deep rosters and great coaching, what's not to love?

Of course, I'm sure this may be viewed as being too cocky considering there are a few other teams out West that are pretty good, but you have to remember this is who Ja and the Grizzlies are. They talk their shit and then go out on the court and back it up. That's part of why I respect their shit talking, it's not as if they run their mouth and then can't back it up when it comes time to prove it. We need more shit talking in sports anyways, so I love the confidence.

Here's where things may get a little dicey for Ja though. The Grizzlies are 19-11 which is tied for 1st in the West. That's the good news. The bad news is they are only 8-8 against the Western Conference. That's the fewest wins against the West of any top 5 seeds, and only a few more than the Kings who sit in 6th. Fortunately, only one of those losses is against a Western Conference contender (@NO), but Desmond Bane didn't play in that game. Last season the Grizzlies were 36-16 vs the West so I can understand why Ja is so confident, but he's now put a target on the Grizzlies' back pretty much the rest of the way.

You can't talk about how no West team worries or concerns you and then not make the NBA Finals. If the Grizzlies have a big Western Conference matchup from here on out, you gotta win it. We all remember what happens when this team talks shit and doesn't come through when it matters most
