Elon Says He's Willing To Step Down As Twitter CEO If It's What The People Want... After Pissing Everyone Off (Again)

In between cringy tweets about soccer that sounded a lot like that scene in '40-Year Old Virgin' when Steve Carell's character explains boobs, Elon was putting in work during the World Cup. The Chief Twit dropped a new Twitter rule on our heads while the entire world was distracted: NO FREE ADS (read: no promoting other social media platforms on Twitter… well, certain social media platforms).

That includes links to your IG handle, LinkTree etc. And in case you were wondering, NO you can't tell people to hit you up on "instagram DOT com." Turns out the nerds in engineering thought of that. The full policy is pretty comprehensive.

Mastodon already got the boot during the great journalist purge of 2022 (like 3 days ago). But this is a HUGE win for Tribel, Nostr, and Post. Gotta feel good even being mentioned in the same breath as the big swinging social media platforms.

Interestingly enough, Snap and TikTok didn’t make the do not fly list. Probably unrelated to Tesla's business in China.

This news, is of course of the “not great Bob” variety for lots of people… including myself, my colleagues, and anyone with an OnlyFans (so, a lot of my colleagues). It's still unclear how this will impact Barstool personalities' respective "armies."

Of course, every antitrust "expert" and defender of free speech on Twitter called shenanigans.

So, naturally, Elon responded by apologizing and promising to let the people decide about all major decisions going forward.

And then he proceeded to put his fate in the hands of the masses. A casual Sunday night in Qatar.

As of 9 PM EST, "YES" has a commanding lead. Of course, it's probably safe to assume that Elon has already decided to step down and has some poor bastard lined up to take over.
