The Giants Land Carlos Correa With A Monster 13 Year $350 Million Deal, Further Proving How Good Scott Boras Is At His Job

With guys like Aaron Judge, Trea Turner, and Xander Bogaerts off the board the big question remaining was what would happen with Carlos Correa. Would he get his money and who was Scott Boras going to find to be the dancer partner? With the Giants whiffing on Judge would they turn their full attention to Carlos Correa and give him the monster contract he'd been searching for? Something tells me San Francisco's hesitancy caused Scott Boras to reach into his bag and pull out some Stevie Cohen leverage.

Little scare tactic to get the show on the road. The result? Less than two hours later Correa agreed to a 13 year $350 million deal with the Giants to play out the rest of his career in the Bay Area. Good God…

Listen, the Giants are desperate and went into this offseason feeling the need to land their franchise player. They finally find someone to take their money. Is this an overpay? Yeah maybe, but in order to get big free agents you have to spend more than you really want to. You'll look at Correa's baseball reference page and probably come away slightly unimpressed based on the size of the contract he just got.

That being said Correa just turned 28 years old, making him younger than all the other big name SS who entered free agency this winter. $27 million a year for a guy who is a platinum gold glove winner, an excellent postseason hitter, and the new leader of your clubhouse is worth it to me. Safe to say this just took the rivalry with the Dodgers up a few notches.

How about some credit to the GOAT Scott Boras? That man has put on a masterclass once again this year. Obviously this contract is a huge win for him and Correa, but also what he did with Xander Bogaerts was a masterclass. The Red Sox were never going big to keep their shortstop. Everyone knows John Henry has no interest playing as a big market team right now. With their offer around the 6/160 range Scott Boras got the Padres to go to 11 years $280 million. Scott Boras put the fear of God into the Padres warning them that they might be the ones who let Turner, Judge, and Xander slip away in a week's time. I get the feeling he did a similar thing here with the Giants. Scott Boras always wins.
