Dissecting Room Temp IQ Marty Mush's Bozo Take On Justin Herbert

I'm not even gonna say ICYMI cause you likely did, but local bozo Marty Mush had yet another take on Justin Herbert. It starts off as smart as they come.

We can do this whole charade that wins and losses aren't a QB stat, but most of the reason a football team wins is because of their quarterback play, which is why people call it the most important position in sports. Justin Herbert is an amazing talent for sure and he will have throws that will make your jaw drop. But he cannot get his team to the playoffs, partially because his team continues to lost football games. I think to be considered elite, you have to at the very least make the playoffs, I don't want to hear the team is hurt excuse either because he has one of the best running backs in the league and Keenan Allen is back.

Lets run through it. Are wins a QB stat? No. Never have been never will be. The QB is the most important position on any football team without a doubt. But there 52 other players on the field that need to do their job to get a win in the NFL. There are coaches, coordinators, DOCTORs that need to do their jobs. Football ain't a 1v1 contest like tennis, so to say JUSTIN HERBERT has 23 losses or, as Marty put it, "lost's", is insane. Especially when Herbert puts up god-level numbers and stats game after game. Here is a great example.

Take a look at Herbert's first 44 games vs Brady's. By every metric, Herbert has played MUCH better. But for some really weird reason, the Chargers are 22-23 over this stretch and the Patriots were 32-14 with 2 Super Bowl wins. Can't possibly figure out why!

But he cannot get his team to the playoffs, partially because his team continues to lost football games

By saying "partially because his team continues to lose football games" you are, by default, saying that wins aren't a QB stat. And yea, the Chargers didn't make playoffs the last two years. Not like Herbert even tried or anything.

one of the best running backs in the league and Keenan Allen is back.

Is Ekeler one of the best running backs in the NFL? Yes. Is he the best RUNNING back? Absolutely not. Ekeler is sitting at 26th on the rushing leaders chart behind names you all know and love like Tyler Allgeier. As it stands, the Chargers are the second worst rushing team in the league only behind Tampa, another team that is struggling mightily. This is mostly because the Chargers offensive line has just sucked ass at run blocking the last couple years and OC Joe Lombardi just has no clue how to run the ball. Add that to the revolving door of injuries and they just can't run at all. When you can't run, you can't sell PA and opposing defenses can safely assume you're gonna throw and will focus on defending that. That's damn easy for a defense, especially when Joe Lombardi runs the same exact routes every single play/

In addition, Keenan has been healthy for all of 4 games this year….

Herbert gets a pass on so much shit. Every year all we hear is how good the Chargers are going to be and every year they disappoint. Then everyone is going to throw all these stats on how many passing yards Herbert has. Well guess what? He throws the ball more than any quarterback in the league. Herbert has thrown the ball 60 more times this year than Patrick Mahomes! Everyone gives shit to Lamar Jackson all the time and say he isn't worth the money. Meanwhile he has the Ravens in first place despite having Devin Duvernay, Demarcus Robinsion, and DeSean Jackson as his three wide receivers.

Every year as in 2021, after he broke every rookie QB record in existence in 2020, and this year, after he was top 5 in every passing category in 2021.

He throws the ball more than any quarterback in the league. Herbert has thrown the ball 60 more times this year than Patrick Mahomes!

When you have the leagues second worst rushing attack, guess what you gotta do? Throw the ball. You know which player has the most passing attempts? Tom Brady, whose team has the worst rushing attack in the league.

You wanna bring up Mahomes, no prob. Herbert has had to throw 60 more times, mostly in desperation with the opposing defense knowing it is going to be a pass to the flats (because its all Lombardi does) while throwing to literal practice squad receivers and a kick returner, and he has a better completion percentage and less interceptions than Mahomes.

Ravens in first place despite having Devin Duvernay, Demarcus Robinsion, and DeSean Jackson as his three wide receivers.

Gee, what could the Ravens have that Herbert doesn't?

Both QBs are going through it with receiver depth, but the Chargers have Herbert in an infinity more fucked situation than Lamar. That's without even mentioning Mush omitting Mark Andrews, who has more yards this year than any Chargers receiver. Speaking of, did you know that Herbert is 4th in passing yards despite not having a single receiver in the top 30 in receiving yards?

I know the Herbert fans will talk shit because they are the ones that propped him up as some savior despite piling up all these losses. But Sunday night will show you all you need to know. Tua will be the better quarterback that night just like he has been all season and maybe everyone can finally shut up about Justin Herbert.

Do you know why Chargers fans defend Herbert after Charger's losses but Panthers fans(and the rest of the world) shit on Marty's boy Baker after Panther's losses? Because Baker fucking sucked. He was just a single turd in a pile of shit. Herbert, however, is a shining diamond in a pile of extremely injured pile of shit.

You can look at the chargers losses and decide to blame Staley, Lombardi or the defense and you won't hear a peep from me. Blaming Herbert, though, is a room temp IQ take.
