The House From The Goonies Sold To a Fan For Over $1.7 Million Dollars, But Is It Really Worth It?

My first thought is that would be very cool to live in the house from The Goonies. It was such a fun movie that nearly every kid from the 80's loved. Before Pixar and the Disney renaissance in the 1990's, we didn't watch many animated movies. Instead it was Gremlins, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Goonies and more. I'm not a parent so I don't know if these are acceptable for kids to watch now but if it's not, that's a shame. This came out when I was six years old and I loved it then. I watched this recently and I still enjoyed the hell out of it now. Take a look at how versatile the director Richard Donner was: He directed Superman, Goonies and Lethal Weapon all in less than a decade. The Goonies also gave us this great Cyndi Lauper song (and this weird music video with Rowdy Roddy Piper, Lou Albano and a future Oscar winner at the very end):
But as much as I care about the movie, living in the house sounds kinda awful the more I thought about. I guess people for years would throw pizza on Walter White's house from Breaking Bad which is owned by regular people.

Because of all this, the home’s owners have started construction on a six-foot-tall, wrought-iron fence according to KOB 4, another local news channel. Unfortunately, fans have even tried to go through the construction to snap a clear pic of the house.
That would be fun for the first week and then start to be horrible. I don't care what it is or how much you love something, people can ruin it. The guy who bought the house is a big fan of The Goonies. Will he still love it when people make Truffle Shuffle jokes everyday or ask about the statue's penis falling off every time you have a guest over? It sounds like this person is leaning into it by installing the original Data contraption to open the door. Good for them but I'm curious if he still will enjoy it when people ask he if wants a Baby Ruth daily? Actually, I take that back. Sloth never gets old.

This house is in Astoria, Oregon and the town has embraced the movie. They have a holiday every year called Goonies Day. I suppose that one good thing is that all the other residents of the town are sick of the same jokes so it could be a way to bond with new neighbors by mocking tourists who think they are clever by asking about the hidden treasure.
If I had to live in a house from a movie there a better options than the Goonies house (although that is a nice house and that view is fantastic). I think I'd choose Leo's place in Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. It had that great pool and that place looked very fun. You just need strong security in case the Manson Family pays a visit.
