The home win streak is officially dead at 14 games. Despite rallying from a 3 goal deficit, the B's fell to Vegas in a shootout where former Bruin Reilly Smith!!! scored the lone goal in the 5th round. But what a game, had that playoff feel.. an absolute shame it had to end in a shootout. Let's get into it…

1ST PERIOD:

1:36 into the game Paul Cotter opened the scoring for Vegas. 1-0.

After a brutal giveaway from David Pastrnak, Jonathan Marchessault buried one to make it 2-0 Vegas.

2ND PERIOD:

Once again, 51 seconds into the second, it was Paul Cotter once again. 3-0 Vegas.

Brad Marchand got the Bruins on the board. 3-1 Vegas.

David Pastrnak with 24.4 to go pulled the Bruins within 1. 3-2 Vegas.

3RD PERIOD:

Taylor Hall tied the game on the power play (Bruins actually had a 5 on 3 that expired into a 5 on 4). 3-3.

OT:

The Bruins got a GIFT of a power play in OT but couldn't convert.

SO:

Reilly Smith wins it for Vegas in the 5th round.

FINAL: Boston 3, Vegas 4 (SO)

News, notes and quotes:

- Jim Montgomery alluded to it post game, but the Bruins simply didn't start on time. It was 1-0 before you know it just 1:36 into the game and in a blink of an eye it was 3-0. No quit in the B's, resilient for them to rally from a 3 goal deficit, I think this team last year probably mails it in and says oh the streak had to end some time… but nice to see the B's continue to fight through no matter what.

- After his giveaway leading to a goal in the 1st, David Pastrnak redeemed himself with a goal 24.4 seconds left in the 2nd to pull the B's within 1. Pay that man his money.

Open the checkbook, Donny.

- No Jack Eichel or Alex Pietrangelo for Vegas tonight. Paul Cotter slid in Eichel's spot and had himself a night with two goals.

- Taylor Hall was an absolute menace tonight. Goal to tie it at 3, but he was unbelievable all game long. Really had his legs going. He's been incredible to watch as of late.

- Bruce Cassidy returned to Boston for the first time since his firing, was emotional after his tribute. Nice standing O. All the best to him.

- Jeremy Swayman made 21 of 24 saves in net.

- Shout out to Logan Thompson for Vegas, stood on his head tonight.. finished the night with 40 SAVES. Also quite a story on his rise to the NHL… USports to ECHL to AHL to NHL.

This would be one hell of a Cup Final, just saying.

B's head to Colorado (who just lost to the Flyers after Nathan MacKinnon suffered an upper body injury) on Wednesday night.

Time to start a new streak.
