Former US DIA Agent Turned Cuban Spy Gave Away Nuclear, Human Intel and Sourcing, and Possibly Targets Will Be Released From Prison In The Coming Weeks

In late 2000, the FBI was closing in on a suspected spy for Cuba working inside the Defense Intelligence Agency. Undercover operatives would soon begin trailing Ana Montes, the agency’s top military and political analyst on Cuba, by car and on foot. They filmed her making calls on pay phones, even though she carried a cellphone in her purse. They intercepted Montes’s mail and inspected the trash outside her apartment in Washington.

It began as a classic tale of recruitment. In 1984, Montes held a clerical job at the Department of Justice in Washington. She often spoke openly against the U.S. government’s policies towards Central America. Soon, her opinions caught the attention of Cuban “officials” who thought she’d be sympathetic to their cause. She met with them. Soon after, Montes agreed to help Cuba.

This story has so many twists and turns that it's difficult to summarize shortly. There was a woman who worked in a clerical job and ended up as THE top expert on Cuba. So much so that her nickname inside the organization was The Queen of Cuba. She met the Cuban government agents at a coffee shop ONCE and agreed to try to help the regime. Next thing ya know, she's applying for a job at the DIA.

She works there for SEVENTEEN fucking years working her way up and up in seniority and position. Sh ended up as the top person responsible for a country that is on our "enemies" list and intentionally set out to give them information- damaging information that was harmful to the United States. This crime spree went on from the Reagan administration and was stopped in the W's presidency. She's been in federal prison for nearly 20 years and is set to be released in the next few weeks. But that's not all.

The agent who was going to help "catch" her in the act turned out to be a Russian spy who was doing the same thing for them for twenty years. Now he's in prison for life without the possibility of parole.

With each turn, the story gets more and more insane.

It's round one on the show today.
