'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' Just Dropped Their First Trailer And It Rocks

Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally the Guardians of the Galaxy on a mission to defend the universe and protect one of their own.

If you know anything about me then you know that I am a HUGE Guardians guy. The first movie is my personal favorite in the MCU because it is the perfect combination of action, comedy and music and it has actual depth as a cherry on top. Vol. II didn't quite capture the same magic, but still had an incredible villain and an even better sound off for Yondu.

What I'm hoping for this movie is that it is a similarly good sendoff for the Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn confirmed that this is their last standalone movie, so it is basically the end of the Guardians with the exception of the team-up movies. It sucks, but better to end on a high note than wear out your welcome.

This movie made some big cast additions in Will Poulter (Dopesick), Maria Bakalova (Borat 2) and Chukwudi Iwuji, who Gunn did some incredible work alongside of in 'Peacemaker'. Poulter is playing Adam Warlock, who is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe.

This trailer hit the familiar beats for Guardians with quick-hitting humor, great music and some cool looking action. We didn't get a great look at Warlock, but I assume we will get a lot more in later trailers. I'm excited if for no reason other than Marvel needing a win. Phase 4 had solid movies that were undeniably entertaining. However, it just never had the big hitters that Phase 3 had. It featured a lot of sequels for characters that had better movies in previous phases (Thor, Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, Black Panther). as far as introduction movies go, 'Eternals' was ok on the technical side of things at best. Shang-Chi did kick ass, though.

Phase 5 starts out with 2 sequels that need to land in 'Ant-Man: Quantumania' and this movie. Time will tell how they play out.

This comes out in May 5th of next year.
