This Franchise Won't Die: Watch The Trailer For 'Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts'

In 1994, a pair of archaeologists from Brooklyn come into an ancient conflict through a globe-trotting adventure that ties in with three factions of Transformers: the Maximals, the Predacons and the Terrorcons.

The Transformers franchise is really a strange one. It started with a bang by combining awesome CGI action with one of the most attractive women on the planet, very on brand for Michael Bay. After that, though, it was tough sledding.

Bumblebee was definitly a bit of CPR for a franchise I thought was dead. As you can see, I have it at the same rating as the original but I like it for very different reasons than the original. This trailer, to be honest, didn't do a ton for me. I'll always tune in for Optimus Prime saying "Autobots" and blowing shit up but this trailer isn't much. The movie is directed by Steven Caple Jr., who we've actually interviewed before, who made 'Creed II' and 'The Land'. I liked both those movies and am willing to give it a shot. Bumblebee has earned the goodwill for at least that much.

As far as the Beasts go, I'm sure they are exciting for people that liked the toys growing up. I was never much of a beast wars fan and more of a casual transformers fan in general. Again, as long as Optimus Prime is there and kicking ass, I'll be there watching like the stupid franchise slop pig I am.
