NSFW: 2,500 Australians Go Full-Nude On Bondi Beach

Giphy Images.

It's a beautiful morning at Bondi Beach & you're walking a quaint little path through the dunes. The seagrass thins out and you're almost there.. You kick off your flip flops and think, "Maybe I'll collect some shells or dip my toes in the wa…. WAAA WOOOIE WOW! THAT'S A LOTTA HAMS! GOODNESS GRACIOUS! GLORY BE! I'LL BE DARN TOOTIN'D!"

You'd soon come to learn that the 2.5k people (that's 5k sandy buttcheeks) you stumbled upon were there for a good cause; skin cancer awareness via a nude art installation representing the number of Australians who lose their lives to skin cancer each year.

A bonus for the participants, besides raising awareness & $245.6K for a skin check program, is that they'll each receive a free, limited edition print when the photos are ready. As a sucker for freebies myself, and as someone from an incredibly pale family where I'd say about 40% of my relatives have some form of skin cancer (you should see all the bandages at our gatherings, very cool), I'd be nude on that beach in a second, tramp stamp, collapsed mom-boobs & all. I've gone topless at beaches here & there while traveling solo, but have never had the nerve to go all out (besides that one night in Assateague Island fueled by Rumple Minze where I wound up getting appx 1.2M mosquito bites). Adding mega-group nude photo to my bucket list & will update the blog when that finally happens (sorry in advance).

Anyways! Here's another overview from the artist, Spencer Tunick, who is, as it said on his site:

Known for his large scale installation photography set amongst city & natural landscapes, Spencer Tunick has built a career using skin as his palette. This time, he's using his work to save it…

Here's another example of Tunick's work where people stripped down in Hull, England, got painted blue & took to the streets like a rogue wave to celebrate the town's relationship with the sea. Not sure what this says about me, but I dig it:

As for the buffs in Bondi Beach, I'm glad they got away scott-free, unlike another nude incident in that area last year…
