The $EBR crew is no one trick pony. Yes, we are known to be a problem for the Barstool Sportsbook with our winning ways in European Hockey and the NHL mostly…but the World Cup is starting and running for a month which provides many things.

A. More action to get us through the workday.

B. Another opportunity to start building the bankroll for holiday present shopping.

C. Learn more about the most popular sport in the world.

This is a preview blog about the group format that starts off the tournament and we will give group winners with the odds from the Barstool Sportsbook.  I may have not said this but I love football, it truly is a fantastic sport that allows you to zone out for 90 minutes without commercials and relax. Now I know the times in the states will be tough with the West coast having the early wake up time at 5 am but come on it's the world cup.

This blog has something for everyone. Whether a gambler who only wants to win, a new fan to soccer looking to enjoy and learn, or an American who wants to see the boys make a run.

So enough already Murls let's get to it…EVERYBODY RIDES!!!

$EBR World Cup Group Preview - Group B

Teams: England, U.S.A., Wales, Iran

Team Breakdown with odds to win group:

England: -265 - The Lions, who lost in the finals of the Euros, are the overwhelming favorite to be top of the group at the end of the round-robin stage.  The team has all the talent up front and in the midfield but has shown time after time to be a boring side.  They will most likely win the game 1-0 and look lost at times.  The backend is an issue for the squad and can leave them exposed to counterattacks.

Goal Scorer:  Harry Kane (Tottenham) - England’s captain and penalty taker will be the number 9 throughout the tournament and has been in good form for the Spurs since this pizza review with El Pres.

U.S.A.: +500 - The USA team has grown up a lot since they did not qualify for Russia. This team is still young but has a bunch of experience since most starters play in Europe.  Pulisic, dubbed Captain America, knows this is the stage to show the world he is the best player and most dangerous threat.  Do not sleep on Gio Reyna (Dortmund), who has shown brilliance in the Champions League. If Gio gets hot, the USA team will be a problem.  The question is always will the manager pull the right strings to close out matches?

Goal Scorer: Christian Pulisic (Chelsea) He is the undoubted leader of the team and will shoulder the PK duties.  If given space on the wing he can be magical but the USA must play fast and let him run at defenders.

Wales: +650 - The Wales squad is a scrappy team that will make life hard on any opponent but lack of depth will hurt this team in a tourney that gives little rest.  It took the team a few extra wins to qualify but everyone will be looking at an aging Bale to show some magic. They will need the likes of Daniel James (Fulham) to use his speed and play the ball to Bale. This team is a dark horse and the first game against the USA is a watershed moment for the group.

Goal Scorer: Brennan Johnson (Nottingham Forrest) A young player that has looked good in the Premier League and has a few snipes but is fast and maybe can get some extra room if the eyes are on others.

Iran: +1800 - There is an argument that Iran is in the best form of any team in the group.  They have players who are on teams throughout Europe, which will give them confidence against anyone. They are a long shot but will be in games.  They lack speed on the back end and will be a park-the-bus team sometimes but will look to win games at the end of 90.  I do not think they have the skill to keep up with the USA and England but a veteran team can always cause issues.

Goal Scorer: Alireza Jahanbakhsh (Feyenoord) He is a dynamic midfielder who can do it all. This is the stage he wants to show his talent and look to maybe get a big contract out of his play on the biggest stage.  Keep an eye out for him as he goes, so does Iran.

$EBR Group Winner: USA +500, The Young Guns get it done by goal differential.  The 2nd match against England will be the deciding game.  Even if they draw and beat the other two teams I think the USA at 5-1 is too juicy. Plus, who does not want to root for youth and speed?
