Hartford Basketball Is The Biggest Shit Show In Sports - Head Coach Quits On Opening Day With Wild Accusations Against The School

[Source] - "At the end of the day, it's better for the student-athlete experience if I stepped away," Gallagher said. "They will be treated much better now than if I was there. That was the deciding factor. That's the truth."

In a resignation letter to Hartford president Greg Woodward, Gallagher alleges multiple breaches of contract.

"As I have communicated on multiple occasions, both directly and through my counsel, the University of Hartford has not only breached the material terms of my contract but has consistently and repeatedly undermined the men's basketball program to the point where player safety and well-being has been jeopardized," Gallagher wrote.

Additionally Gallagher wrote — and the university later acknowledged — that the school did not assign a trainer to travel with the team for its recent scrimmage against Dartmouth College. In that scrimmage, an undisclosed Hartford player suffered injury.

In a statement obtained by ESPN, the University of Hartford refuted some of Gallagher's claims.

There is no bigger shit show than Hartford basketball. It's a disaster. It has a worse look to it than the Powerball being delayed. In case you're not up to date on the story, it's pretty simple (to a degree). Last year Hartford announced they'd be transitioning to Division III. They claim it's a money thing but really they fucked over a bunch of athletes and keep doubling down on things like this:

Now, exactly ONE day before Hartford opens its season as an independent in Division I, John Gallgher resigned. I respect the fuck out of the move. I say that because players seem to understand. There aren't players coming out and blasting him. Everyone hates Hartford's dumbass President. This isn't Gallagher looking for the easy way out. The guy built the Hartford basketball program and took them to an NCAA Tournament. He spent months trying to rally against Hartford's President to keep them Division I.

But this could be even bigger than some of the stuff that was out there. If Hartford purposely refused to let a trainer go to a scrimmage and a player got hurt, they need to be dragged through hell and back. We're talking about something that happens at the high school level. I never once played in a scrimmage, let alone game, where there wasn't a trainer from each school. Now we're talking about college basketball. I don't care if you're Division I or NAIA, a trainer is at a scrimmage. It's common sense.

If it's true shut Hartford as a school. Fuck em all. Send all the kids to Quinnipiac or UConn or something.

That said, I love that Gallagher resigned a day before. I just wish he waited until today. Really fuck over the school and try to rally your coaches to leave with you. Let the players be player-coaches and then transfer like the majority of their roster did already. Nobody wants to go from Division I life to Division III. I don't care if you end up dominating Division III because of experience, that shit sucks when you have the taste of Division I success.

Might start 1-0 though because of gamesmanship. Love the little nugget that Sacred Heart didn't know and found out on Twitter. Uh, yeah, you're not Hartford. You're not getting any more advantages than you already have. You get to find on Twitter like the rest of the world.
