It's Impossible To Be Hotter Than The City Of Philadelphia Right Now As The Union Advanced To The MLS Cup Finals

If you were fortunate to wake up in the city of Philadelphia today, then you woke up to the Eagles being the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL at 7-0.

You woke up to the Phillies hosting a World Series game at Citizens Bank Park tonight for the first time in 13 years. On the anniversary of the 2008 Phillies parade, no less.

And you also woke up to the Philadelphia Union being Eastern Conference Champions for the first time in franchise history and playing for the MLS Cup next Saturday.

What a run for the greatest city in the world. These past few weeks have been mayhem. Just a masterclass in domination. Most of it has felt like a fever dream. That's probably because we've all been running on nothing but coffee and booze for the past few weeks, and all the days are running into each other. But when all the teams are this hot, the fans need to put on a performance of a lifetime as well. Our teams are giving it everything they've got, and the fans are doing so in return. One city with one heartbeat. And the Union were going to make sure they added an extra jolt to that heartbeat last night.

2 goals in 2 minutes to take the lead. Bedlam on the Riverfront.

And once you get 2 goals on the board, you know your job is done for the night. Because when you have 3x MLS Goalkeeper of the Year winner Andre Blake in net for the boys in blue, you know you're only giving up 1 goal max. And now they're just 1 win away from being MLS Champions.

It just so happens that the MLS Cup Final would be on the same day as a potential World Series Game 7. Not that I necessarily see that series going to 7 games. These next 3 games at Citizens Bank Park are going to emotionally scar this Astros organization for the rest of eternity. They have no idea what kind of jungle they'll be walking into tonight. But if somehow the series goes to a game 7, you'll have the MLS Cup Final at 4pm on Saturday leading right into game 7 at 8:03. Thank god the Eagles play on Thursday night this week because I don't the party would stop by 1pm on that Sunday.

Philly is on a historic heater right now. Game 3 tonight, game 4 tomorrow, game 5 Wednesday, Eagles vs Texans on Thursday night, potential game 6 on Friday night, MLS Cup on Saturday, potential game 7 on Saturday night, mayhem from then on out. Just sit back, grab an extra coffee, get the beer nice and cold, and enjoy it.
