A Blockbuster Deal Rocks The Show With One Manager Swinging For The Fences

The Show fantasy league was shaken up by a blockbuster deal. With how valuable top fantasy Tight Ends are nowadays with Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews consistently providing 10+ point cushion over the next ranked TE on a weekly basis, it's very rare you'll see one on the move mid-season. But that'w what we had this week when Eric Hosmer, winner of three straight games deal him and RB Joe Mixon for a package headlined by Saquon Barkley and included Commanders RB Brian Robinson and TE George Kittle as well. In a full point PPR league - who do you think won this deal?

We'll see if it pays off for Hosmer as he has a huge matchup with the Guardians duo of Shane Bieber and Austin Hedges today.

It's projecting to be very close and Bieber and Hedges got a big performance out of DeAndre Hopkins to make up for Kyler Murray's slightly below average game. It'll be interesting to see exactly how many touches Christian McCaffrey gets in his first game in San Francisco, but the projection is much lower than it normally would be. Hosmer starting Jeff Wilson Jr. over Brian Robinson Jr. is an interesting move. He lacks consistency at the WR position and I don't think you can count wins on your fingers with Brandon Aiyuk (despite his very good game last week) and Chase Claypool as your starting WRs. I should also call out the addition of Taysom Hill, who can be played as a TE is interesting, though Hosmer is neutering that strategy by playing him at FLEX and letting Kittle go to TE.

In my mind, the deal really is a swing for the fences move by Jake Marisnick who is sitting comfortably in 1st place at 5-1.

He's now got Josh Allen (on a bye this week), D'Andre Swift, Joe Mixon, along with Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf, and Amari Cooper at WR. By the way, he as the most dominant fantasy Tight End as well. Napoli is catching Marisnick with his RB1 and QB1 on a bye, but it probably doesn't get much worse than Napoli's situation with his QB1, RB2, WR1, and TE1 all on byes this week. Tough sledding so I think that Marisnick cruises to 6-1 with this insane roster.

Dave Portnoy's fantasy team started off red hot going 4-0 in the league, but he's on a two game skid. If he loses this week, it may be time to press the panic button.

Dave needing a win during Stefon Diggs' bye week could be tough, but I just like his matchups a lot more. Team Questionable has both RBs in the Monday Night tilt and I don't like either of them, especially after the emergence of both guy's original #2 RBs in Khalil Herbert and Rhamondre Stevenson. It'll be interesting to see if Keenan Allen does indeed go and how healthy he'll be. And Allen Lazard has scored a TD in 4 of 5 games. Is it a fluke or is he actually the real deal? Dave needs a big performance out of Tom Brady, but he'll also need Ravens RB Kenyan Drake to at least hit his projections. Drake was terrific last week, but they now face the division rival Browns. But what is working heavily in Dave's favor are his two starting WRs in CeeDee Lamb and Jaylen Waddle, both of whom get their starting QBs back this week. I am forecasting that to be enough and lead Dave to a win.

Commissioner Cheah's pick: Dumb Jocs

Two of the top three scoring teams face off with Wil Myers taking on overall points leader Mike Moustakas in a heavyweight showdown.

Moose got a great start to the matchup with his TNF group coming in 2.5 points over projected in Eno Benjamin, Alvin Kamara, and Zach Ertz. But he'll need a good performances from Lamar Jackson, Zeke Elliott, and Tyreek Hill to hold off Wil Myers who has some juicy matchups with Josh Jacobs and Davante Adams along with Chris Godwin. Mahomes fared well the last time he played the 49ers, but they are getting healthier and Nick Bosa could disrupt what he's trying to do. Moose's team has faced some bad points against luck and it'd be nice for his squad to get a W on Justin Jefferson's bye to make up for it.

Commissioner Cheah's pick: Takos And Tequila

We've also got the trio of Joc Pederson, Alex Wood, and Austin Barnes starting to get healthy, can they pull of a much needed upset against the another guy who is absolutely crushing this October, Manny Machado?

High Ankle Sprain will need their guys Dak Prescott, Jonathan Taylor, and Amon-Ra St. Brown to all return to their pre-injury form to win this one, though I do think they are trending up. Taylor is tough to predict and I like Jeffery Simmons in the middle of Tennessee's defense to slow him down. Meanwhile, Manny has a RB duo of Austin Ekeler and Kenneth Walker III in a 50 point O/U game. He also avoids disaster with Mark Andrews playing today. The Bucs defense should feast vs. PJ Walker and the Panthers and Alec Pierce was a savvy pickup on waivers this week and could be better than Courtland Sutton.

Commissioner Cheah's pick: Cono Squad

We've got a matchup that could end up being critical at the end of the year with Alex Bregman who is having a HUGE week with the Astros vs. Mike Trout with last place firmly on the line.

Bregman pulled a massive upset of Jake Marisnick last week, but he'll need another massive game from Ja'Marr Chase and Rhamondre Stevenson to do so this week vs. Trout who gets Tua Tagovailoa back. His backfield is loaded, but DJ Moore and Hunter Renfrow make up a very uninspiring receiving corps. With the news that Isiah Pacheco is now starting in KC, Trout may be in a position of strength when it comes to a deal as he is flushed with RBs. For this matchup, I cannot take a Ryan Tannehill led team to win, so I'm landing on Trout.
